What happens at a Colonic?

When you make an appointment to see me I will send out a questionnaire to complete before your treatment. We can chat over the phone if there is anything you are unsure of.

On arrival for your treatment, I will explain the treatment to you. You will have your blood pressure taken before we begin, following this you will be asked to remove the bottom half of your clothing and lie on your back on the couch with a towel covering you for privacy. I am outside of the room at this point and re-enter when you are comfortably settled on the couch. You may leave your clothes in the en-suite loo.

I will palpate your abdomen and ask you to turn onto your side in order that I may perform a digital rectal examination (using gloves and lubricant) .The speculum will then be placed into the rectum and you will turn onto your back still covered by the towel. Once you are comfortable, I will begin the treatment , using several tanks of water and herbal enemas if requested for maximum benefit.

At the end of the treatment, I remove the speculum and you go to the loo and release any remaining water or waste matter. You will then get dressed and return to the room where we discuss next steps and suggestions for your bowel health.
